I just completed the four-day L-952 All-Hazards PIO course, designed for a PIO assigned to an incident as a member of an All-Hazard Incident Management Team. The training is a combination of the basic and advanced PIO functions and concentrates on the duties and responsibilities of PIO in an all-hazard environment. It's similar to the E-388 Course taught at FEMA's Emergency Management Institute in Maryland, but this was offered offsite at the Phoenix FD Special Operation facility. There were about 20 PIOs in the class, from the Scottsdale PD, the Glendale, Goodyear, Phoenix and Surprise FDs, Scottsdale Water, the Forest Service and Civil Air Patrol.
Proud to be a former federal emergency response official with FEMA, and currently with the Red Cross, Boy Scouts, and Ohio Emergency Management Agency.
