I flew over to Dallas/Fort Worth and opened the two-day Texas Wing PAO Academy with a presentation on news release writing that also included information about AP Style, FEMA courses, networking and mentoring. The participants ranged from a cadet to a gentleman in his 80s with little to no experience to master level expertise. As always when I instruct, I feel I got more out of the seminar than the students! Many thanks to Maj. Johanna Augustine, assistant Texas Wing PAO, for being such a strong supporter of the National PAO Academy every year and for running this academy. I was honored to receive the Texas Wing coin and the Texas Wing Commander's coin for my efforts.Proud to be a former federal emergency response official with FEMA, and currently with the Red Cross, Boy Scouts, and Ohio Emergency Management Agency.
