Aliyah at Temple Israel

I received the very huge honor of being called up at Temple Israel on Friday to recite the blessings before and after the reading of the Torah portion. As a Reformed synagogue this part of the service does not typically include being called up, which is known in Hebrew as an aliyah. But I suggested that we start doing this, our synagogue's worship committee agreed, and I was the first to be honored.
