Citizen Safety Forum draws a crowd

More than 55 attended the program in Mesa.

I attended a Citizen Safety Forum sponsored by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office yesterday. Speakers focused on preventing thefts from cars, new scam trends and the opioid epidemic, with representatives from the Mesa PD, the MCAO and the DEA on hand to answer questions. There were also lots of handouts and giveaways. The Maricopa County Attorney, Bill Montgomery, wrapped up the program. A graduate of West Point, he was very polished and presented facts and figures about crime in Arizona that really showed what government is doing to prevent, arrest, convict and rehabilitate people who break the law. Apparently he holds a forum like this every month in a different part of the county. Next month's is in Surprise, Arizona.
