Saturday at the library

 

I staffed a Daytin Mediation Center table today at the library during the Miami Valley Community ID Drive sponsored by Welcome Dayton. Participants included law students from the University of Dayton School of Law, members of the Osman Gazi Mosque and Westminuster Presbyterian Church, Neighborhood Leadership Institute graduates, police officers from Dayton, Sinclair College, and Kettering Health, Saya & Ekaterina, Latinos Unidos en Dayton, and the MVCID Steering Committee.

Deayton Mediation Center honors volunteers

I'm a volunteer at the Dayton Mediation Center and Mary and I attended their annual volunteer appreciation dinner last night. The cheese cake was fantastic and I got a new umbrella!

I'm a trainee mediator now!

I've completed 23 hours of training and am now an apprentice mediator at the Dayton Mediation Center, which was established by the City of Dayton in 1987 to ease the impact of community conflicts on public resources. 

The center intervenes in more than 1,000 conflict situations annually and is utilized by residents, neighborhood organizations, businesses, employers and employees, schools, law enforcement agencies and court systems.
