Steven H. Solomon has been elected president of the Lincoln Society of Dayton. This is the group that funded the 11-foot-tall bronze statue of Lincoln by sculptor Mike Major that was unveiled at Courthouse Square in 2016; it was also instrumental in the 2024 installation at the Dayton VA of a statue of Lincoln signing legislation to establish the National Asylum for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers. The society holds monthly meetings at Woodbourne Library in Centerville. Steven was also elected to his second three-year term on the board of the Central Ohio Public Information Network, which increases awareness and education of the role of public information officers during a crisis, assists with training opportunities for greater disaster communications skills among its members, and facilitates requests for emergency communication backup support from members able to assist qualified organizations that serve community needs. Steven is the external relations lead for the Central and Southern Ohio Region of the Red Cross and a public information instructor with the Ohio Emergency Management Agency.

Honored to be elected president of the Lincoln Society of Dayton

I was honored to be elected president of the Lincoln Society of Dayton at today's annual meeting in the Lincoln Room at The Presidential. LSoD unveiled a bronze statue of Lincoln in 2016 at the Old Courthouse in Dayton to honor the 157th anniversary of the speech he gave here in 1859, which was against the expansion of slavery. The society was also instrumental in the 2024 installation at the Dayton VA Medical Center of a statue of Lincoln, pen in hand, signing legislation establishing the National Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Asylum for Civil War veterans. #presidentlincoln #abrahamlincoln #lincoln

Annual luncheon of the Lincoln Society of Dayton.

I'm on the board of the Lincoln Society of Dayton, and we had our annual meeting in the Lincoln Room at The Presidential in Kettering Ohio. I was honored to give the blessing before lunch. 

The Lincoln Society of Dayton is a nonpartisan organization founded in 2003 to honor the speech that President Abraham Lincoln gave at the Courthouse Plaza in downtown Dayton. Its objective is to preserve an historic moment in time of President Lincoln, who changed our nation and the history of our country, and create opportunities for the community to participate in Lincoln related programs and activities.

Assassination artifacts held by the U.S. government was focus of my presentation

I had a full house on Sunday for my presentation about artifacts from the assassination and autopsy of President Lincoln. The program was sponsored by the Lincoln Society of Dayton at the Woodbourne Library.
